【摘要】:Thistestmethodconcernsthesievingofcoalintodesignatedsizefractionsforthepurposeofcharacterizingthematerialastoitsparticlesizedistributionforfurtherprocessingorforcommercialpurposes.ThisiscoveredinPartAofthisstandard.Raw,aswellasprepared(crushed,cleaned,orscreened),coalscanbetestedbythistestmethod.Thistestmethodisapplicableforalltypesofcoals,exceptforpulverizedcoals(seeMethodD197)suchasfedintosteamboilers.Lowrankcoals,thatis,lignites,subbituminous,andhighvolatilebituminousC,mustbedriedwithcautionandhandledwithcaretominimizedeteriorationorsizedegradationduringsieving.Thistestmethodisapplicableforthewetordry-sievingofcoalatsizesfrom200mm(8in.)to38x03BC;m(No.400U.S.A.Standard).Methodsforsizingmaterialsbelow38x03BC;mareoutsidethescopeofthistestmethod.Note28212;Thesizingofmaterialthatpassesthe38x03BC;msieveisnormallyperformedbyopticalmicroscopy,sedimentation,centrifugation,lightscatteringorobfuscation,surfaceareameasurement,orothersuchmethods.Subsievetechniquesarealsousedsometimes.Thistestmethodalsoconcernsthedesignationofacoalsampleastoitsupper(nominaltop-size)andlower(nominalbottom-size)limitingsizesforthepurposeofcharacterizingthematerialforfurtherprocessingorforcommercialpurposes.ThisiscoveredinPartBofthistestmethod.Anthracitecoalisfurtherdesignatedbyaoneworddescriptiveterm(see14.4).Enoughmaterialmaynotbecollectedbythistestmethodtomeetsubsequenttestprocedures,suchaswashabilityanalyses(TestMethodD4371).PARTA.SIEVEANALYSISOFCOALTop1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresfordeterminingthesieveanalysisofcoalanddesignatingthesizeofcoalfromsieveanalysisdata.Rawaswellasprepared(crushed,cleanedorscreened)coalscanbetestedbythistestmethod.1.2Thistestmethodexplainshowtodesignatecoalsizesfromtheresultsofsieveanalysisdatainordertorepresenttheconditionofthecoalassold.Inthecaseofspecialmixturesorcoalswithnoncontinuousrangesofsizes,asufficientlycompletesieveanalysismustbemadetoproperlydescribethesizedistribution.1.3Thistestmethodisnotapplicablefordeterminingthesieveanalysisnorfordesignatingthesizeofpulverizedcoal.(See.)Sizefractionsdowntoandincluding38m(No.400U.S.A.StandardSeries)canbetreatedbythemethodsdiscussedinthistestmethod.Methodsforhandlingsizefractionsbelow38m(No.400)willbedevelopedbythiscommittee.Note1Forpowderedorpulverizedcoalasisfiredintosteamboilers,refertoTestMethodD197.1.4si-value;Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother,withoutcombiningvaluesinanyway.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
